Online play overview
MECCHA CHAMELEON supports 2–10 players online via Steam. Join public matchmaking for quick games or host private lobbies for friends and party sessions.
Public matchmaking
- Quick join from the main menu — best for learning both roles
- Ideal lobby size: 4–8 players for balanced hide spots
- Rejoin a fresh lobby if connection or sync issues appear after patches
- New players: play 2–3 Seeker rounds to learn map layouts before hard Hider spots
Private lobbies
- Host sets room visibility — invite Steam friends directly
- Cross-region private servers may appear even when regions do not match
- Great for repeated map practice with the same group
- Custom Workshop maps often require private host selection
Proximity voice chat
Built-in proximity voice means nearby players hear you — distant players do not. This adds social tactics and party-game chaos.
- Hiders: stay quiet near active Seekers unless baiting
- Seekers: coordinate sweeps verbally in duo Seeker lobbies
- Mute or lower volume in public lobbies if needed in settings
Party session tips
- Rotate maps each round so everyone learns different palettes
- Alternate who hosts — host network affects latency
- Use private lobbies for Workshop map testing
- Spectator whistles are for fun — agree house rules before streaming
