Prep phase checklist
- Move immediately — do not paint in spawn where everyone sees you
- Eyedropper the wall, floor, or prop you will lean on
- Paint large color blocks first, then add shadow accents
- Pick a pose that flattens your outline (wall lean, crouch, floor flat)
- Stop moving when the hunt phase starts
Choosing a hide spot
Great spots have reference colors close to your body, break up your silhouette, and sit outside the Seeker's default sightlines.
- Corners and wall edges — easy flat poses, strong shadow cover
- Clutter zones — busy textures hide brush imperfections
- Behind frames, shelves, or party props — mimic object colors
- Avoid open centers unless you can copy a complex floor pattern perfectly
What to paint first
- Base color — largest area matching the surface behind you
- Shadow tone — darker sample from the same material
- Lines / texture — tile grout, frame borders, or wallpaper stripes
- Skip fine details until base colors are correct
Common Hider mistakes
- Leaving white patches on arms or head
- Painting spawn colors that do not match the hide location
- Picking poses that extend past the prop you mimic
- Moving or adjusting after the hunt begins
- Hiding in high-traffic lanes Seekers sweep first
